I saw an A-League referee gesture to the players in a free-kick wall, what appeared to be an instruction not to raise their forearms or arms to protect their face/head if the ball was kicked towards that area. My questions are:
1. Was the referee correct in giving the above instruction?
2. Is it handball, if a player raises his hand/forearm/arm to protect his face / head and the ball subsequently hits the hand / arm / forearm?
